The Knobby Rock Gravel Grinder is a gravel bicycle event that highlights an incredible series of dirt loops in the heart of the Green Mountains and traverses through the scenic Moosalamoo National Recreation Area. The ride starts as a mass start from the iconic Blueberry Hill Inn and Outdoor Center located in the heart of the Moosalamoo forest. The course is primarily hard packed gravel and dirt roads and a few short sections of multi-use trail.
Ironwood Adventure Works has been hosting trail and long distance running events in Vermont and greater New England since 2014. This is our first bike race, but we aren't new to riding. Although we got our start with running events, we have been crushing gravel through the green tunnels of VT as long as we have been here. Gravel bikes, mountain bikes, we love bikes.... and we aim to put every bit of focused care into our first bike event that we have been applying to our trail races since the our start in 2014.
After hosting the Moosalamoo Ultra Trail Run race at Blueberry Hill Inn for a few years, we were asked if we could bring a Gravel Ride to the Inn and we jumped at the chance to create this new event! If you recognize the name "Knobby Rock", its because Blueberry Hill Inn hosted a stout Mountain Bike race with that name in the 80's!

EVENT ROUTE

Knobby Rock Gravel Grinder is a non-competitive tour of some of our favorite VT backroads! Permitted through US Forest Service property and on FS roads that wind throught the heart of The Moosalamoo National Forest and along the edge of the vast and beautiful Breadloaf Wilderness area, this is a ride you don't want to miss!
After a three year process we have recieved the federal permit for this 34 mile ride. Riders will head North from the Blueberry Hill Inn, and travels all the way to South Lincoln, before turning South and heading back to Blueberry Hill Inn and a relaxing afternoon hangout via the rolling hills of Ripton, and Goshen VT.
In our first year we are keeping it simple with this 34 mile loop, but the longer term plan is a 100k loop in the coming years!
Camping is available both before and after the event and is included in your registration fee!
