Policies and Procedures

Race organizers reserve the right to modify the course/event last minute to accommodate hazards or problems that come up beyond our control.

Any changes that occur prior to the race will be discussed at the pre-race meeting and/or pre-start.

Photography: You may be photographed during this event by race organizers. These photos or videos may be used for event promotional purposes in the future.

No bib transfers.

Race Cancellation: In extreme circumstances, forces beyond our control may lead to the cancellation of this event. Unfortunately, hurricanes, ice storms, acts of human chaos, etc. do occur. If we feel that something is happening that puts our event participants at unnecessary risk, we may choose to, or be required to cancel the event. In the case of a last minute cancellation of the event we will most likely not be able to reschedule the event. If the event is cancelled, it is possible that you will receive no refund of your entry fee. We will however, endeavor to issue refunds, or make other compensation to the extent funds are available to do so. Don't worry, we won't do this unless we deem it absolutely necessary.

All participants are required to follow the rules laid out in our Rules for Competition. However, please use common sense. We also reserve the right to remove any runner who we deem may be putting themselves, other participants, volunteers, spectators, bystanders, etc. in any unnecessary risk.

Rules for Competition

The purpose of these rules is to ensure event integrity as a test of individual performance, providing equal conditions for all. The guiding principles of the Rules for Competition are as simple as: play fair, be safe, and respect the land.  Violations of any rules or directives of the Ironwood Adventure Works Rules for Competition may be grounds for disqualification for one or more years, and/or disqualification from awards.

  1. There will be no unofficial runners.

  2. Each runner’s official run number must be worn prominently on the front of the body and must be easily visible at all times.

  3. Runners must follow the marked trail at all times. Any runner departing from the official trail must return to the point of departure on foot before continuing.

  4. Except in case of medical emergency, runners may not accept aid or assistance in any form from anyone between checkpoints.

  5. Runners may not store supplies of any kind along the trail.

  6. Runners are responsible for the actions of their crews and pacers. Everyone associated with the event must comply with all rules and regulations issued by the Race Director in pre-run emails and at the pre-run briefing, and all parking and access instructions, or risk disqualification of the runner.

  7. All cut-off times will be strictly enforced. Runners must be checked OUT of the checkpoint BEFORE the cut-off time. Runners returning to the checkpoint after the cut-off time will be pulled from the event.

  8. Littering of any kind is prohibited. Please respect the natural beauty of our trails and the right of everyone to enjoy them.

  9. Runners must refrain from any act of bad sportsmanship.

  10. Any runner who is unable to finish an event must personally inform the race director at the start/finish of the race of their intention to withdraw.

  11. Ironwood Adventure Works has a zero-tolerance policy regarding the use of performance enhancing drugs (PEDs). Any athlete who has been determined to have violated anti-doping rules or policies, whether enforced by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), or any other national sports federation is ineligible for entry into any Ironwood Adventure Works Event.
